Replaced a split unit with a 3.5 Ton package unit that used R22. Total cost was $3800.00. The warranty covered it for 5 years. 1 month out of warranty, the variable blower burned out. 2 months later the compressor motor failed. compressor + R22 Freon = $1100.00. Unit ran for another 2 months, then developed a leak in the cooling core. Had a repair tech come out to re-fill it with R22, the cooling coil was leaking, unable to repair. Estimated cost of cooling coil $1800.00 plus labor & R22 Freon. Will never again buy a Payne, Bryant, or Carrier, they are all built the same.
