It does everything except cook dinner! It not only lowered my electric usage. It has a energy saver function & a sleep level which really helps to limit electric usage should the outside temp drop lower than what the controls are set for, especially while sleeping!. It also has 3 different fan speeds & for a severe allergy & asthmatic the unit has an air cleaner to aid in my breathing. This unit is so functional & really is one of the best units I ever purchased. I have done a great deal of research & this unit has everything I need. I especially like the feature while on energy save, should the temp rise by 2 degrees the unit turns itself on.

VERY LOUD on it lowest fan/cool setting. I have to wear earplugs to be able to go to sleep in my master bedroom & bathroom. There is not conceivable way to make it quieter. There is NO mechanical problems with this unit at this time, the fan is just VERY LOUD. The remote control works very well and as does the cooling capacity.

I have learned from previous window units, that covering the exterior outlets and inlets with mosquito screening, this prevents the outside dust and bugs from getting inside the unit and house. I brush off the exterior of screen with a fine brush; as well as the interior air filter screen keeping the efficiency at its peak. There is just no getting around the inhospitable noise! If it weren't so HOT here in the deep South I would have returned it after the first day. My Central A/C is out and July is not the time to be without any A/C. Love the eco mode, it's not constantly running like older models. My house is 700 square feet and set at 71° eco mode (not running non-stop) and two fans pushing the air, has stayed cool with outside temps in mid-80's. Also very easy to install. Included are two thin foam squares to insulate the accordian sides. Don't have to run the unit on more than Medium to very effectively cool this room even on very hot NC summer days. It is reasonably quiet on Medium. This unit came with Styrofoam-like inserts for the accordion side panels (trim to fit), a feature I had never seen before and which I do believe helps with reducing heat loss through the panels. Also included is a good amount of thick and thin strips of self-stick foam insulation should you need to seal any gaps.

My absolute favorite feature is the remote temperature sensor on the remote. As long as the remote can 'see' the A/C unit, it can be set to relay the temperature where you've set it down...even if it's a few feet away...back to the A/C unit itself. It also shows you what the current temp is at the location you've got it at - rather than what the A/C unit is set to. This means that instead of it being 73 at the A/C unit (which is cooler because it's nighttime and you can't open windows due to allergies) and 80 where you're sleeping...it's 73 where you're sleeping as long as you've got the remote near you. It also seems to be really efficient and it's reasonably quiet when it runs. It's like running a regular fan in terms of noise. The only thing that could be improved is the relay feature on the remote. If it was a RF remote then you wouldn't have to keep the remote within 'sight' of the A/C unit in order for it to 'talk' to it.

However, once I removed it from the box, I noticed that the front panel was dented, the cabinet had a crack in it and the back of the unit was dented in several places. So much for quality control.
