Thank you for choosing OPPO. Your satisfaction is our highest priority.Message 1 of 20 Noticed this past Sunday that Pandora was acting up on my player. Power cycling did not fix it.It does lock up sometimes on shutdown and I have to manually unplug it. But this is first time I started getting these " device does not support audio codec" errors. Odd thing is if i wait the Pandora app will display the songs and sometimes a song will play.  I have latest firmware M20_156.  I thought maybe it had some software corruption, and wanted to re-flash the firmware but the Internet site was not responding. (Yes I checked the network diagnostic, even reset my router. My Kindle is playing the Pandora just fine. So I know it isn't the Network or the Pandora site.  I really only use this device as a Pandora music player.
I don't know if the unit is bad or if it is something else. Has anyone else experienced this issue? Also it seems to take forever to load the Pandora App now. I tried a few of the factory resets but didn't want to do "ALL" just yet. UPDATE 12/2/14: I reset ALL  settings to  Factory Defaults, rebooted ran through the setup process. Same issue with Pandoradual zone hvac thermostat. Long load timesportable ac unit rental dallas. Eventually a song will play but in the middle of the screen is an Error msg box that says, "ERROR: The device does not support the current audio codec.ice buildup on air conditioner filter" After the song plays and the system goes into screensaver, it will display the  next song title for 20 seconds then the next title.
. and so on until a song plays again. It is as if the player's codecs are missing or corrupted for some audio file types but others are fine. I'm using "Shuffle" mode.  I really don't know if the Pandora app resides on the player or off in the Sony cloud. I also cannot access the Sony Update server to check for firmware updates. I get  "...can't communicate with server.. System passes all diagnostics. I am at a loss if the unit is defective or if Pandora is now using a different codec set than Sony is providing. Perhaps SOny can chime in here and lend some insight. I really hate to go buy another Player, I bought this one Sep 28th. The issue started 11/30/14. Other devices seem to work fine with Pandora (Iphone and Kindle Fire). The Sony will play music CDs and Movies. At a loss. Message 2 of 20, I'm sorry for the bad experience her about the Pandora application in your player but you may also try refreshing the applications installed in your player. " Message 3 of 2 AM Thank you for your response. Apparently you did not full read my post. The UPDATE 12/2/14 section in particular. I stated that I RESET to factory settings using the ALL, which resets everything. I re-performed  the initial setup.I did this again after you sent this hoping that maybe Sony had updated the Pandora app to fix this issue.   Well, no it is still an issue.  So my questions are:1. Are the codecs hardware based or software based?2. And if software based then are they delivered/updated via firmware updates to the unit or does Pandora provide them? 3. Can I re-apply the latest firmware? I want to try to re-apply the latest update but Sony does not provide a mechanism for that. Also as I stated earlier the Internet Update does not work. I get ..."can't communicate with server, try again later".  Even though my Network diagnostics all check out fine and the System settings say i am connected to the provisioning server. I tried to use the USB port with the UPDATES downloaded to a memory stick and it said I already had the latest firmware, no option to reapply any
way. I tested other apps and they work (slow to launch but eventually work) I watched some you tube videos as a distraction to the recent loss of Pandora.  I also stated that if I wait long enough eventually a song will play in Pandora and then another long "loading" spell. I think some of the content uses a codec which is currently still functioning. Please pass this up the ladder to a higher tier. I really want to get this Pandora app working properly again.  If there is no fix other than to RMA it, I think I will just buy a different brand and take the loss.  After reading many posts about how Sony handles these issues and the reliance on Sony servers being operational in order for apps to work... I  think this is the main issue, an overloaded Sony system.  I suspect that all of the app code is really located on a Sony server and that the unit is basically a profile/shortcut with minimal data actually local to it. We use to call that a dumb terminal in the old days. The cloud concept is not a new one, just broader in sc
ope. "What was old, is new again". Thank you for any help "like letting me try to re-load firmware again-issue me a special 'update' ". Message 4 ofdda, You may try checking steps. Using a computer, log in to the Sony Essentials Webct . Select your HomeShare device. Verify the  status. If your system is unlinked, click on  and then register your Pandora account. NOTE:  If your system is still linked to your Pandora account, Unlink from Service will be displayed instead of Link to Servfrey If my post answers your question, please mark it as "Accept as Solution" Message 5 o49 PM - e:00 PM The link status only pertains to premium content not the standard free stuff.  Pandora and others show no link status at all. There are 4 premium apps that I do not care to link to. Strike 2 Sony support. Anyway I figured it out on my own and with searching the forum. To anyone else with similar issues,  I changed my router's primary DNS setting to 8.8.8.8.I already had it as my number 3, listed after my ISP provided DNS se
rvers.  I will add 8.8.4.4 as my secondary and ditch my ISP provided DNS settings. changing the DNS setting solved all my issues with sluggish response, firmware update now connects to Sony server. Pandora is working again.  I did not suspect DNS was the issue because all my other computers, tablets and phones did not have any issues. Only the Sony Blue ray player was crippled.  I now know what to check for next time.Since sony did not answer my other questions, I have deduced that the player is a dumb device and completely relies on accessing the apps stored on Sony servers. The player is like a Citrix device accessing a terminal server.  Spotty connections will yield poor and crippled performance. I hope others read this and fix their problems that may be rted {1} Having the same problem since sony wont help you maybe you can help me. e 9 of 20 ‎ 07:52 AM Well mine also was acting up again. And again for me my router reverted back to weird static DNS settings. So I zeroed out those static DNS entries in my router and saved the changes and rebooted the router. I verified that the static settings were gone and that the ISP Provided DNS was again primary 8.8.8.8 and secondary 8.8.4.4.  I have no clue as to why my router is forcing static DNS on its own. Very strange. But anyway you said your hubby checked the DNS settings. Did he check that on the player or router or both? Check the player under Setup-- Network Settings -- Network Connection Status.  Scroll down to the DNS section and verify those are the public ones.  If they are not then check your player's network config possibly you are using static addresses rather than DHCP. If the player's settings are correct then it could be Sony's servers that are unresponsive.
