frigidaire ac window unit reviews

Age 18-24 25-34 35-44 45-54 55-64 65 and older Gender Male Female First let me say, I have this unit in my bedroom. It is "working", but there are some issues. The first is the fact that every time you turn it on, you need to reset it to what you want. I t does NOT remember how you set it up last time, and defaults to the ECON mode. Second, and most importantly, the thermostat doesn't work correctly. I have an old fashioned temperature gauge in the room, to compare it to. I set it at 70 and it will only cool the room to 74. I have it set at 66 right now, and the room temp hovers between 69 and 70. I think what is happening is that the cold air coming out of the unit is being sucked back into the unit, and it is messing with the thermostat. Once you get it to a temp that is comfortable, it will hold that temp all night. Also the thermostat in the remote is useless! It has to be on a direct line of sight to the unit, but when you attempt to do this, you are getting the cold air blowing at it.
This will mess up the thermostat, and turn the compressor off, and the room will warm up. The cold air vents do not move very much. I have been unable to get the air to blow where I want it to. Yes () No (6)  Report Yes () No (6) Verified purchaser It doesn't get cold enough, regardless of whether you put the setting on continuous cool or economy energy save, it reverts back to energy save on its own and as it reaches the temp it was set at it shuts off and turns on again.....and again and again and again...AND again...on and off within seconds...and it is SO LOUD/NOISY it keeps you up all night...on/off on/off on/off ...and so you are hot, annoyed, and have insomnia all night. Yes (3) No (0)  Report Yes (3) No (0) Verified purchaser This is a very good working, small window unit, that cools a decent sized room (20x12 office/guest room), quite well, in southern most Texas, during the hottest past two months of the year, since purchase. It appeared to be an easy install (this old lady watched as younger man set it up).
We didn't use the plastic inserts for the install into an older wooden type window, but it was trimmed out with insulation board covered by panelling, which works better for our application, so I cannot comment on how those inserts function. The unit is quiet, cycles easily and thus far has been very efficient, allowing electric bill to remain low. I particularly like the long cord (longer than old unit that was replaced), which made it convenient to connect to an outlet. The ability to set thermostat on temp, helps maintain constant comfort. It is turned off when room isn't being used, but quickly cools the room. I would recommend this Frigidaire unit to anyone who wants dependable air conditioning at a very reasonable price. It was a really good deal all the way around! Yes () No ()  Report Yes () No () Verified purchaser Ordered on-line and picked it up at Walmart. Top of air conditioner where sides attach to was bent (a hammer had to be used) and some of the coils on the back were also bent.
Should have removed it completely from the box to check for damage.(energy saving setting) and air conditioner do not maintain the same temperature, (remote shows a hotter temp.) approx. 7 degree difference. Cool setting works good and cools the medium sized room (13'x13') off nicely and my small kitchen. Fan blows cool air out nicely but I still use an osculating fan in front of the unit. home ac unit hissingHave not received an electric bill yet to see if it is energy efficient, used for approx. 4 weeks.frigidaire mini ac unit Yes (5) No (1)  Report Yes (5) No (1) Verified purchaser I, seriously, needed a new AC so I did searches and, because of the other reviews, decided to try this one. air handling unit autocadAnd, if it didn't live up to my hopes, I figured I could return it locally.
It works so much better then my LG air conditioner. The LG didn't like it any more then I do when the temps hit 90 degrees and wouldn't work when I needed it most. I am very heat sensitive and I need to be sure to have that ability to cool down my space, especially this summer. We have had an unusually beastly hot summer that seemed like it would not go away. For the BTU's in this item, it cools remarkably well. In fact, it was going full tilt one day when I went to take a nap. When I woke up, I had to laugh because it cooled my place until I became chilly and woke to find myself wrapped up in my afghan. Since it was 90 degrees outside, I thought this was great. I gave it a 4 because there are some things it doesn't have. For instance, a humidity setting which is always nice when it gets muggy. Overall, I am happy with my purchase, which is a relief. I hate returning items. Yes () No ()  Report Yes () No () Verified purchaser I bought this one as a replacement for an older unit that was a different brand, and bought this same one last year for a different room.
These ACs are lighter so easier to move, and don't seem to drip out of the back. The old one we had did (different make) and stained the roof below. I bought this second of this brand as it does a good job cooling, and I like the energy saver feature. Yes () No (2)  Report Yes () No (2) Verified purchaser This unit would have got a 5 star rating if light did not shine through the cooling vents. The Styrofoam that is used to insulate and direct air flow allows light into the room also. This is an issue since I sleep during the day sometimes. BUYER BEWARE USE IN BEDROOM ONLY IF YOU DON'T SLEEP DURING THE DAY or if you don't mind light in your room. The bottom line is that so far this unit does a great job cooling the room ,much better than LG unit and an Arctic King unit that I tried. It is worth the few extra dollars to buy a unit that does the job! Yes (4) No (1)  Report Yes (4) No (1) Verified purchaser it was easy to install and works very well..my only complaint would be that it`s noisier than I would prefer, but not all that bad.cools very well.i use it to cool a 500 sq/ft area with no problems..

The only question I have is why a small drip hole is not recommended to to get rid of surplus water that collects in the inside pan and is splashing around when the humidity level is high. I have paid attention to the "Warning" not to make drip holes on my own or I will lose the warranty. This collection of water could result in attracting Mildew or unwanted bugs. Living in Florida you must consider these situation. Over all does a fine job. Yes () No (7)  Report Yes () No (7) Verified purchaser I bought my Frigidaire FFRE0833Q1 window air conditioner on line via the Walmart web site. Thus far, it is doing a good job of keeping the living room and kitchen area cool in our double-wide mobile home. We haven't any real hot and humid days yet but I feel confident it will do the job.
