It does not make the room cool We moved into a house with no central A/C. We moved with one GE model window A/C that is at least 6 years old. We Purchased 3 Haier's to go into bedrooms etc. There's no warning or sign for the sharp medal. I cut my finger and it was bloody as hell! Still deciding if I should sue them. The product itself is OK Completely broke within 2 days of purchase. It started to make very loud weird noise and stopped pumping out air. The room is like an ice burg when this is on high. Not a huge room but works fantas5 I always buy Haier brand. Only issue was that I couldn't drill it into the wall to hold it in place because of my window sill. I got it on 23rd, August with my friend. It is cool when it works.
Unfortunately, there is a lot of noise inside the machine. I do not exactly know where the noise comes from. Good I use it in bedroom. Can get too cold haha I just hooked up this air conditioner and it is noisy as hell. I checked everything and it seems the noise is coming from the fan as it turns.Knowing the wattage of your AC unit allows you to find out the cost to run it. Air conditioner capacity is often described in British thermal units instead of amperage or wattage. To determine the cost to run a 5,000-Btu air conditioner, however, you'll have to know the amperage rating. In turn, you can convert that number to wattage. Once you know the wattage, you can find out the cost to run the air conditioner for an hour, a day, a week, a month or a year. Locate the amperage of your 5,000-Btu air conditioner. There will generally be a tag on the bottom or inside the filter panel with the specifications that you need. Most 5,000-Btu air conditioning units are rated at around 5 amperes.
Calculate the wattage from the amperes. For example, multiply the 5-amp figure by how many volts there are at the outlet. In most cases this will be 110. Therefore, 5 x 110 = 550 watts. This figure will allow you to calculate your kilowatt-hours. Find out what you are paying for each kilowatt-hour from your local electric company. The national average is approximately 12 cents. Determine how much the air conditioner would cost to run over a 24-hour period. Use the basic formula of watts x hours of use ÷ 1,000 x cost per kilowatt-hour = cost of operation. (Dividing by 1,000 changes watt-hours to kilowatt-hours.) For example, in this case the mathematical formula looks like this: 550 x 24 ÷ 1,000 x $0.12. The cost to run a 5-amp, 5,000-Btu air conditioner over a 24-hour period is about $1.60. Divide the cost per day by how many hours in a day to get an hourly cost amount. For example, $1.60 divided by 24. The answer shows that it will cost 6 cents to run every hour. Multiply the per day cost, $1.60, by seven days to get a weekly cost.
In this instance it will cost $11.20 per week to run continuously. Multiply the weekly amount by how many weeks in a month (4) to get a monthly cost. In this case, the cost per month will be approximately $45. A yearly cost can be determined by multiplying the cost per week, $11.20, by how many weeks in a year, 52. The total approximate yearly amount to run a 5,000-Btu air conditioner continuously will be about $585. The Haier 5000 BTU HWR05XCR-L is a budget window air conditioner that has some nice features such as a digital display. It runs from a standard wall power outlet at 110/120 volts AC. A room up-to 150 square feet can be cooled, although this will depend on how hot it is outside and how well the room is insulated. It comes with a remote control or the buttons can be used with Fan, Energy Saving, Cool, Timer, Temperature set and more. The 11.0 CEER rating is average for a window unit. Most whole house HVAC systems are around 14-18 SEER depending on the system.
Window units are not the most efficient units so a rating with 13 is normal for such unit. Installation is easy enough and it comes with all the components needed to mount it in a average window. The sides have a easy stretch according insulation that fills any gaps on the side of the window. The weight is around 50 pounds so be sure to get help lifting it if necessary. The operation is smooth and easy enough. The sound is quiet for a window unit which Haier is known to make quiet A/C units. The temperature is not extremely hot yet while it was being tested but the cold air blows out nice as one would expect. Window units have a life span of 3-5 years depending on how hard they are used and can be a good way to fill a gap in a existing under performing system or cool a room with no A/C.
While window units are not meant to be permanent solution, they do work well when taken care of. For example the filter on such units should be cleaned regularly. Also the out side portion of a unit should have the small fins cleaned regularly also so air can pass through. All A/C units need air flow to cool a space and will stop cooling when there is no air flow to blow cold air in and heat away. There are bigger units that the HWR05XCR-L which might be better for a larger room or temperatures that are extremely hot. How well the room is insulated is very important to how well any unit can cool down a space. A busy area where the door is open and shut constantly can also effect how good a unit works. If you do have gaps in insulated spaces such as openings around doors or windows getting these sealed can greatly improve how good a unit works.
