It's used in the bedroom and works fine for that, without it I wouldn't be able to sleep. We've had this unit for about three years now. But the exhaust hose sucks. The heat breaks it down quickly and we find our selves replacing it and taping it up... The hose attaches to a flimsy piece of plastic that you have to caulk into the window to hold it in place. This plastic is brittle and breaks over time. We've had ours for 4-5 years. We use it as a supplement to our central a/c. It keeps our bedroom about 8-12 degrees cooler than the rest of the house. I recently bought one of these from Homedepot. I give this a 5 star as far as cooling rooms go but it is very, very loud. About the same amount of noise as flying in an airplane. Doesn't quite pump out the cold like I want, but does the job well for ONE room. I'm only giving this 3 stars because of the noise level...and altho it has helped keep me cool, it isn't what I was hoping for...
