I purchased a $10K 5 ton Trane unit in May of this year. 4 months later, the system wasn't cooling. Contact had gone bad in the outside unit. Technician said he had never seen a contact go bad that quickly. The burnt out contact was made in...The contacts were previously made in Mexico. I'm covered under the 10 year warranty for parts and labor, so no expense to me other than the aggravation and inconvenience, but I'm worried long... Bought a entire new $8,600 Trane AC and gas furnace system 5 years ago. Last week the refrigerant line dryer leaked on compressor unit. Charged me $800 for labor and refrigerant to repair even though dryer "part" was covered, but charged $418 to refill refrigerant --not covered under warranty even though the defective line dryer was the cause of the lost refrigerant . Spoke to Trane customer relations. They basically told me too bad, refrigerant... We bought a house --the builder put the equipment in his name. We we were told the equipment was warranty in our name.
We have a signed addendum saying all equipment is in our name. We were not in our 90 days of transfer. Trane did not care. All we want was our name transfer. They wouldn't work with us. We tried several departments. You can't get any help from any of them. Beware of a company who isn't willing... This correspondence is in regards to an erratic and dangerous Trane service vehicle my daughter and I encountered Friday morning (2/12/2016) at 6:30 AM on US 290 at West 43rd in Houston, Texas. I was in the process of taking my daughter to school, the Duchesne Academy in the Memorial area, when we came upon a stalled vehicle in the right lane on the US 290 eastbound main lanes. As usual, the drivers in the adjacent middle lane took turns... I had a heat pump installed in Nov after being convinced by dealer that trane heat pump was very efficient and I would not need auxiliary gas heat. very well insulated, mostly 8 ft. ceiling. Without gas logs burning, trane trash will not heat from 62 to 71 in 45 minutes.
With gas logs burning and trane trash fan only 12 min. Now have 4 Hunter ceiling fans with thermostat on each: 62 to 71 in less than... The temperature in my retail space has been in the 50° range for about a week and a half and train has neglected to come out. The thermostat historically is a very poor quality. The HVAC people in the area almost hate to work on it at all. I wish someone would file a lawsuit against Trane for building such a poor quality unit. You have to have some super big thermostatic control one square-foot motherboard my goodness how you ever program that... 2 people at the counter no manager and when there is one he sits in his office and provides no help. Phones ring and ring the whole time and each transaction takes upwards of 20 minutes per customer. Customer service at trane supply in west palm beach is garbage. Trane wreck sept 2014 bought a new trane furbace and ac 16seer furnace worked great ac junk got about 4 days out of it broke dow around early july now sept no ac all summer 90 to 95 degres called trane told your selling lemons not a.c.i said to the guy if you wer standing next to me i would choke you.thy know about the oil n valves thatare needed in thes units.

This unit was to replace a Ruud single stage 11SEER unit located just outside of my master bedroom wall. The installer led me with the impression that decibel level output by this new variable speed unit would be considerably less than what we were used to.
