Posted by Walmart Aurora - Sycamore Estates DrWe are displaying our Memorial Day spirit, are you?
Come see us for all your Memorial Day needs. We recently had 3 rooms at this location for 4 days total, for my nephew's boot camp graduation at Fort Jackson. This location is very close to the base, Walmart, lots of restaurants, other shopping. It has free wi-fi but it was sloooooooow. The breakfast is typical; cheese omelets, lots of bread items, juice, yogurt, biscuits, sausage, and of course the signature cinnamon rolls, which are TO DIE FOR!!!They messed up our reservation at check-in. Turns out they had given our original room away but they managed to find us another one. Which is quite odd, considering we were told at check-in that they were completely booked and had NOTHING left. Later in the week, we found ourselves needing a 4th room and I went to the desk and was told that yes, they did have rooms with 2 beds available for that night and quoted me the rate. I went back to my room, called the Priority Club and tried to use my points but the CS rep told me the hotel showed as sold out.
I told her I had just come from the front desk and was told they had plenty of rooms that night. She called the front desk and then came back to me and said she had spoken with the manager and there was only a King Suite left but I could NOT use my points.I hung up and immediately went back downstairs and asked why I was told there WERE rooms with 2 beds available just moments before and the guy at the desk said he was mistaken. We left and I had my mom call an hour later from her cell and the same guy said, yes, they DID have rooms available!!!! They just didn't want to rent a room to someone using points. My mom tried to go through the Priority Club and book a room and again we were told the hotel showed as sold out. I managed to get a supervisor on the phone who explained to me that unless the hotel "releases the rooms in the computer", the Priority Club can't book them. Sure sounds like "Black Out Dates" to me and every room has a Priority Club card that clearly states "NO BLACK OUT DATES"!
The hotel is beautiful, in a convenient location and our room was quite spacious, but when my neice graduates from Fort Jackson in January, I and my entire family will book elsewhere because we didn't appreciate the dishonesty. 186 reviews sorted by: We stayed here two nights for our son's family day and graduation from Basic Combat Training. The room was great but not perfect. We had a suite, and the only problem was that the fridge and cabinet did not fit together. Incredible and accomadating staff made the stress of having a military son better. Housekeeping was great also. You could tell they were in the process of "revamping". But the staff made it as if all was done, and we were not in a "pardon our progress" zone. I do keep meaning to call and find out what company from which they bought their mattresses! The most comfortable nights sleep I've ever had. I'm going to buy that mattress for my home. They even let our family keep an extra car parked there while we attended graduation after check out!
I stayed at this hotel two times previous to my most recent visit. I found it looking very tired showing signs of visible wear and tear. The wall paper was peeling in the bathroom and the strike plate on the lock on the front door was hanging on with just one screw. Noisy neighbours kept us up till after 11pm. but things settled down after that. The breakfast was ok and the overall cleanliness of the room was ok as well. Friendly front desk staff. I'm not sure I would stay here again. There are several properties in the area and you might get a cheaper rate at the Days Inn or Comfort Inn nearby, but the Holiday Inn Express has a "new" feel to it, right down to the flat screen tvs. This site also includes an indoor pool and a small fitness center. Internet access is free and it's a short walk from Waffle House, Capt Ds or Shoneys if you don't want to get back in the car. Lots of other fast food and supermarkets, drugstores nearby. Despite its location near I-77 and Garners Ferry Road, our room was quiet and we never noticed any road noise.
The hotel was easy to get to, the staff was friendly, the room was as advertised. The room was pleasant, well laid out, the shower was really nice. The beds are very comfortable. The walls are somewhat thin. Overall, a pleasant stay. I stayed at this hotel while in town on business. The staff was very rude upon checking in. My room had a bad odor. There was hair in the shower and the bedding. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. I stayed two nights in mid-December at the Holiday Inn Express Fort Jackson. The hotel is easy to reach being close to Exit 9 on I-77. I had a king suite at the AAA rate of $134. My room was acceptably quiet. The staff was friendly and helpful. The shower was good with lots of hot water. There is one computer and a printer in the business center. Breakfast was only fair. I had no security concerns.Avoid the Waffle House next door--I thought the food at lunch was poor. It may be better at breakfast because it was packed then when I went to buy a local newspaper.
