Doesn't stop it from fully working but it does cause damage to the unit. We've owned it a week and it's run great. My only warning is that the installation manual is AWFUL. Very hard to understand and even wrong in one step. There were also screws missing in the hardware packet so my husband had to improvise.

I was surprised because it came with features not listed. I was reminded that artic king is huge in mobile refrigeration. The biggest surprise was how the least expensive unit had as much or more going for it. And its quieter than the other three units I own. BTW on another post they said the unit had water building up in the bottom and had to drill a hole. That is so normal if you slant the unit to the rear so it can drain properly. Yes (5) No (0)  Report Yes (5) No (0) Verified purchaser Verified purchaser This unit works great, the remote works the A.C. just as good as the panel controls, it puts out real cold air, I've only had the unit for a couple of weeks and used it once so can't comment on the durability and how long it will last, I bought a 3 year protection on the unit mostly because they have open vents on top of the case directly over the fan motor with no protection over the fan motor from getting wet from rain coming down on the top of the case that protrudes outside the window in direct contact with outside weather.

Other than that, it's works great, gets real cold, and would be perfect for a disabled or bed ridden person that can't get up to change the temp or turn off or on the unit from the panel, as the remote works from at least 10 feet away. The installation instructions are vague and incomplete; the parts are not labeled nor numbered. If you are not mechanically inclined I would not recommend this unit. Be forewarned, this is not a unit that you will be able to sit in the window, plug in and enjoy without lots of work. I will update this review when I am finished, but at this point I am wishing I spent the extra money and gone with a name brand.
