My window frame is 23 inches, but I guess my window itself is only 21 inches, so I couldn't use both panels if I wanted the AC to fit in the window. And one of the screws would not tighten; it just kept spinning in the hole. I tried another brand (Haier) and it failed to cool my 120 sq. ft. bedroom. It also had very unsatisfactory directional air-flow control. The Frigidaire 5,000 BTU FFRA0511R1 has more than enough cooling capacity. I only run the blower at high speed to initially bring the room to the desired temperature, then run it at low speed to maintain the level of comfort I require. The air-flow directional control is exceptionally easy to adjust and it has a full range to allow directing the air from left to right. I couldn't ask for a better air conditioner. I did not feel like pulling out the chassis and working in hot weather. I put this in, put foam insulation around the gaps, and turned it on. I cannot believe it is only 5000 BTU. It is keeping a large bedroom comfortable. The fan is noisy, (it is not a deep unit so the fan mechanism is right up front) but the compressor is almost silent.
