Don’t sweat it this summer. Make sure your air conditioners are working at maximum efficiency by choosing the right conditioners for you and by maintaining it regularly. There are different types of air conditioners you can choose from including window air conditioners, portable air conditioners, central air units, and through the wall units. Before you purchase an air conditioner: Check the features of the unit to ensure it has: An energy efficiency setting Two or more cooling speeds Two or more fan speeds A manufacturer’s warranty for five years Check the Energy Efficiency Ratio, or the EER, of the air conditioning unit; the EER is a measure of how efficient the air conditioning unit is. The higher the EER the more efficient the unit. Check the cooling capacity of the unit; the higher the number of the cooling capacity the more powerful the unit is. For a small room, a unit which offers minimal cooling capacity is more than enough. However, apart from the room size, you should also consider the number of windows there are in the room, the size of the windows, the number of people who plan to use the room, and the type of appliances there are in the room such as computers, servers, a home theatre system, and so on.

Make the air conditioners more energy efficient by: Cleaning the filter regularly or replacing it if required Check for leaks in the ducts or vents if using central air conditioners Ensure there are no openings in the room to prevent air from escaping; check the seals around doors and windows Reduce the solar heating through windows by keeping the blinds closed or by installing reflective films on the window Find the name brand air conditioner you are looking for, for less, at Sam’s Club. When the top was opened I immediately could see the vent slats on the exterior were terribly twisted and bent in the area of the compressor. Thinking this was purely cosmetic I went ahead with install without issue. When the unit was turned on there was a loud buzzing coming from the compressor area, a quick check revealed the compressor bolts were all loose so I tightened them.

When turned on again this time there as a very loud deep humming, like a bass reverb from the compressor area. Closer inspection revealed the metal washer under the compressor nut which sits upon the bushing was bent and contacting the compressor base. I was unable to straighten it and ended up turning the washer upside down before placing the nut back. The end result…this A/C is by far the quietest unit I have ever experienced and is on par with the much more expensive Friedrich brand. LG was considerate and responded quite quickly. As for the installation of the unit, if you follow the instructions to the letter you will notice that this installation is to be permanent. If your intention is to remove this unit during the winter months, you may want to revise the installation procedure a bit. The AC unit itself is mounted to the drain pan which slides out of the cabinet making the installation process much easier. This unit is very quiet and I am pleased with its performance. You will, however, have to get used to the fact that the fan and the fan only will cycle on and off during the operation. There is nothing wrong with the unit. This cycling process checks the temperature in the room to determine whether or not the compressor is required. This operation is explained in the manual under the "Operating Instructions", item #4. I like that I can set it at a temp. Had a bit of trouble with the install as was a bit different set up than previous, but not too hard to figure out. Running it on economy is the one thing I don't care for....it causes the fan to kick on every few minutes to check the air temp and is a bit noisy. Otherwise I am very happy with this unit. That said, it is still quieter than most medium size ACs we have owned. Compared to the LW1211ER, it has more noise. The instructions could be written clearer--easier to understand--and the illustrations were far too small for most readers. Arrow points and "magnified" detail and specific narratives would help in the instructional sequence of steps. However, once installed properly, the air conditioner ran as advertised. Much quieter than the previous air conditioner we had.We were looking for a quiet air condition. The air condition arrived with in 4 days. We installed window brackets and installed air condition as per instructions. Setup and turned on, you could not believe how noise was like tractor-trailer. You can not have normal conversation. I immediately called Walmart and advised of issues, they informed me to return to the store. I will not recommend to buy LG product this is the second time I have issues with LG product.
